Unlike today, suntans were considered déclassé in Victorian times. As Ladies Home Journal noted in May of 1890 parasols were "made for the protection of beauty against its greatest enemy except time". Therefore no young lady of fine breeding would be caught about without protection from the elements. Our white parasol will be a most versatile addition to your wardrobe.

Parasol measures 26 inches long and canopy measures approximately 30 inches in diameter when opened. Features a latch to keep parasol open or closed.

100% cotton canopy, including lace. Imported.

Broke quickly
Parasol arrived in seemingly good condition, I like the quality of the lace and of the mechanism seems sturdy enough, but the second time I opened it I noticed one of the spindles had broken from the top and twisted at the joint, making it impossible to close properly. I wouldn't advise people against it for casual use, just be extra careful when you close it that everything is lined up on the inside.

My entire order came quickly and in very good condition. The parasol was wrapped well and works very nicely. It will be a "hit" at my nieces Steam Punk wedding.

All the items thus far have top-shelf in authenticity and quality. This item was purchased for our daughter to use (in lieu of a hat in the sun) and it worked but the construction did not seem as "hearty" or "sturdy" as I have come to expect from H/E, but admittedly I have no basis of comparison nor do I have any complaint, and hey I'm a man, the item is made for women so perhaps it is as it should be?...but also, something other than the plastic sheath packaging it came in to keep it closed would be a handy improvement -so a random piece of lace will be needed...

Battenberg Lace Parasol
The Battenberg Lace parasol is beautiful. It is a replacement of one I purchased several years ago in New Orleans. It has rec'd many compliments. I had just one problem, the second day of use the upper bracket that holds the parasol open lost the little pin that secured it in place. It was repaired with a cut off paper clip which fit the small hole exactly. I am very pleased with this item.

Wedding parasol

Great quality and detail have gone into this parasol. I purchased it for my daughter, a very proper young woman, and she adores it. The wooden handle is proper for this parasol, though not as strong as other materials. It is not a toy, but the right accessory for young women to use as needed.
