Good, but not great. Reads greenish.
Purchased for Horace Vandergelder in Hello Dolly; we decided it was time to build our late Victorian costume stock by investing in a few quality pieces. Unfortunately, this jacket reads dark green, not true grey. Also it was folded for so long that there are deep creases where the shoulder padding meets the front of the jacket that I don't would come out without major steaming. I plan to exchange for a wool frock coat, assuming the 40R works for this long-armed actor; otherwise will have to use this one in black (due to the unfortunate greenish tinge of the grey cotton).

A nice looking coat but was advertised as cotton but in reality is only 75% cotton. Might get to use this if I change the buttons. Good fit though.

I ordered this and several other items for my daughter's upcoming wedding. The entire package arrived several days earlier than expected, and I was skeptical of the purchase, but once receiving all the items I realized the material quality was high the fit was perfect and the price was great. I could not have bought a suit for the same price. I am amazed at the outstanding customer service from historical Emporium. I even had to change my pants size day after I ordered and it was corrected and I received the proper fit.

I spent many hours trying to find a frock coat close to where I live in Portland, Oregon, and came up empty. Then I went online and discovered The Historical Emporium and the Callahan Frock Coat. I measured my actor and when the coat arrived shortly after I ordered it, I tried it on him and it fit perfectly.
He is portraying Harvey Scott, the long-time editor of The Oregonian newspaper, so he had to look dignified. Plus, we are filming the short play he is in, so I could not get by with some kind of cobbled together fake frock coat.
The Historical Emporium is an excellent resource with good customer service and I am delighted to have found it in my moment of need.

Lovely well made Frock Coat
This lovely Frock coat was purchased as a gift for my son. The quality is outstanding. It fit my 6'4" sons frame perfectly. He absolutely loved it. Look forward to doing business with Historical Emporium again.
I wanted to love this coat, but the cut was bad. Too much extra material in the upper chest. You would have to be a weight lifter with a big chest and slim waist for this to fit properly. I returned this and got a cutaway coat instead which does fit better. But paying shipping three ways made it a much more expensive purchase. I would order a different frock coat, but won't take the chance. I'll look local where I can try things on ahead of time.
