Our Herringbone tweed Sack Coat takes you from town to country with the versatile styling of a trim-fit Edwardian jacket. Depending on your flair for accessories, this men’s jacket is perfectly suited to transform you into the merchant of Main Street or the president of the Highland Harrier Club.
In the late 19th century, the frock coat fell out of favor for daywear. On-trend men began wearing the sack coat for business meetings and even less formal, after-hours events. Don’t let the name “sack” fool you into thinking the garment is loose, oversized or in any way boxy. Rather, the term was coined from “sacque cut,” in reference to the specific way the two-piece back is pieced and tailored together.
This particular sack coat is nicely fitted and fastens with four buttons, common for the era. There are no outer pockets, but necessities may be stashed in the handy interior breast pocket. There’s also a hidden “ticket” pocket for concealing tickets, cash or other small valuables. Fully lined.
Made from a comfortable blend of 25% wool, 40% acrylic, and 35% polyester. Imported. Dry clean only. Available in men’s sizes 36 - 52.

Sizing Notes |
Our coats are made with typical American sizing, meaning your chest measurement (in inches) is the size you should choose. |
To measure your chest: Raise your arms slightly and measure just under your arms. Be sure to cross over the shoulder blades and the fullest part of the chest. If your belly measures larger than your chest, use your belly measurement for coat size. |
Longs: If indicated in the selection list (e.g. 46L,) long sizes may also be available. Longs are approximately 2" longer in the back and sleeves. |
