I've always loved the look of a coat like this, and I wasn't disappointed when I received mine. As I'm very short it hangs lower on me, but I think that makes it look even better!

I love this coat! It is perfect for California winters and might run a tad bit large, but can easily be adjusted. It took a bit longer to receive than I thought, but it was worth the wait.

This was purchased as a gift, and the recipient was very pleased. Size small fits a young, thin frame well. The shoulders lined up perfectly, but the waist runs rather large for a small coat. This is a very simple fix, though; the buttons on the back-gathering straps can easily be sewn in another place according to one's waist, or the straps can just be tied together for a different look. The quality is superb, especially considering the low price. Highly recommended.

An absolutely delightful coat, very well made, and good fit. The tails go down to the back of the knees on me -- 5'7" female in an XL. Sleeves are a little long, but expected for the time period.

I am not the usual skinny person who can buy a medium or large of anything and have it fit them. I've had some trial and error trying to find a tailcoat for a vampire event. I ordered using the size chart based on my shoulder and chest size and the jacket fits perfectly. Very happy with the fit as well as the quality.

A beautiful, well made piece that I expect to have for years to come. It's the final part of my "Regency Tuxedo" and fits quite well with the black Drop Front Pants and red Cavalier Vest that I had purchased previously.

This jacket has 4-buttons and is a classic - no pockets to bulge to make you look fat but slimer. Nice feel and warm. I did have the shoulders reduced a little - I m loosing weight and muscle tone, but love it.

It is well made, but it's a little towards costume-like rather than Saville Row, but it will be cozy and festive on Christmas morning. The velvet is soft and the color is rich. If you want the couture quality craftsmanship for a smoking robe, you can spend $300 more.

We ordered this, and a vest, for a Halloween Costume. The Tailcoat was in NC from CA, within 3 days, and the Vest, which was special order was here ahead of schedule. I needed support for figuring out sizing, as my husband didn't exactly fit the sizing guide. Both items fit perfectly. I was very pleased and will probably order again in the future.

I attended my first regency event and this coat was perfect! I got the M size first which was a little too big so I sent it back and ordered the S which was just right. Shipping is fast and product is good!

Numerous positive compliments when I wore this to the Fizziweg (young Scrooge's former boss) Ball. Perfect for "Regency" period attire or creating that "Mr. Darcy" look. Paired with a red Buckingham vest. Large is equivalent to a size 44. Excellent fit and drape. Wore again to the Snowball the following weekend. After wearing one more time will beat the cost of renting locally an item from the wrong period.

My husband is 5'4' and slim; usually wears slim-fit suits. We went by your size chart and ordered a medium, but it was huge on him, so we exchanged it for a small, your smallest men's size in this coat. It's still loose on him, but since there is no smaller size, we are keeping it and heading out to our trusty tailor to shorten the sleeves and take in the back and shoulders. It will look quite stunning on him when all is done!

This coat is simply stunning. I ordered a size up from my usual size and it fits like a glove! It looks like it was tailored for me. I only wear coats with silky interiors and this one is perfect. The buttons are very pretty, but a little loose, so I did reinforce them, but it was no big deal as the coat is so pretty. I love the length as well as the way the bottom is made like a dress. The material is soft with stretch so that it fits comfortably as well as perfectly. Overall, this is one of the most beautiful, comfortable, and useful coats I own. I plan on wearing it as my autumn coat for everyday use. Great job Historical Emporium!

This coat... is marvelous. It is very comfortable and of a high quality build, and looks /incredible/. A regular head turner! The pockets are deeper than expected (I didn't expect much), and very conveniently placed! My only gripe are that the buttons are not very well attached, so I reinforced them myself. The buttons themselves are very good, however, just weakly attached. Overall, an awesome coat that I'd happily order again!

I can’t believe how great this coat looks. My wife and I both love it. This is really a big deal for me since I was born without two important senses, fashion sense and gaydar. So something really needs to be beautiful or flamboyant for me to notice. Also thanks for the fast delivery.

This coat was really good quality and I would say it is on the slightly smaller sized of the sizing and personally I could use longer sleeves but I am very tall. Overall excellent.

I bought this coat as part of a Mary Poppins costume....sizing can be an issue with this garment...Even though I had ordered one size up/larger from the fitting chart originally....it was too snug so I returned it for another size up from the first coat. I received the replacement yesterday and it fit perfectly. With this being said, I am VERY pleased with this coat. It is well made and looks fantastic on, once you determine the correct sizing. Once I have worn it for the Mary Poppins production, I wont have any problems wearing it for day to day use. In communicating with the staff for the return I found them to be very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The only problem now, is I want it in the other color as well!

I'm creating a mid-1800s clergy outfit and this coat, with the matching trousers (and suspenders) arrived quickly and, though the material is thicker than I would like, they fit as sized and only needing to shorthen the sleeve length and trouser hem. Amen :-)

This Livingston cutaway sack coat is a very well made coat with an all round tailor-made look & fit's me well the sizing was spot on to my size that i ordered. This is an excellent addition to my Old West wardrobe & highly recommended as a purchase.

The Livingston cutaway sack coat is a VERY NICE coat for the money . It runs true to my standard suit coat sizing and fit me perfectly . The only problem i had was that the top button hole was sewn too small for the button . Easy fix for me so i just handled that problem in house.

The product came in good condition, and it was very sturdy and well made. It was just a TINY bit stiff when we took it out, so trying to get it into a more natural shape to put on our actor was a little tricky indeed. The pants were not the correct size , so I think on the next order we would check more closely on the style and the sizing of trousers .Overall very satisfied with this company and it's products. Nice coat and had that period look and feel. A good fit for the actor I was building a period costume for who was leaving for a film shoot in Austria. The only problem I found was that the p coat buttonholes are too small for buttons. Very difficult to open and close. Since, the actor will be leaving the coat open the problem did not have to be remedied.

I love the coat. I had to take it to the tailor and have the sleeves take up but otherwise it’s perfect.

This is a nice jacket for the money spent, and a unique style that you can't find anywhere else. The material is nice, but not quite as heavy as other wool jackets I own, and I am disappointed that it does not have any interior breast pockets. It does not have a "bi-swing" back, but since I got a "size larger", I will be able shoot while wearing it. This will be nice jacket to wear when shooting with the Vintagers and our old side-by-side shotguns.

I had my eye on this coat for some time and cheap as I am I could not resist when it went on sale, (sorry HE!), but the wait was well worth it! I absolutely love "old style" clothing because it has such great character. This coat is no exception. Love the styling and the fit is spot on. I almost ordered an Extra Large because I'm tall and sleeves are an issue at times but the regular Large fit just fine while still roomy enough to layer underneath for those really chilly days. Historical Emporium has the best selection of items of any store I have seen. The prices are alway reasonable and shipping is always expeditious. This is not the first time I have purchased items from HE and I dare say it won't be the last!

We had to return this item due to size issues. A large was much too large, and we were reluctant to exchange for a medium. The fabric was a little rough, though attractive enough. Overall it was stiff, not as soft as I would like. But, still a nice jacket, and hard to find. Decently cut.

I went for the small and I usually wear size 38R. I prefer my coats to hug my torso but this one stands out as an exception. I wear it for my morning walks, I find it too flashy for wearing to a shopping centre. Well made and very beautiful!

This coat is for a production of Pride and Prejudice for the character of Mr. Darcy. It makes him look very elegant!

This coat arrived in the mail after an incredibly long wait, and found it a little bit of a letdown. The sleeves are huge, so long that my hands got lost in them and I had to have them taken up (which cost extra money). This is normal for me with coats and trousers but these were even longer than usual. The collar and sleeves definitely aren't velvet. They don't have any two-tone shine to them. It's morel like a suede or felty material that just eats up dust and lint. One of the lapels wasn't folded right, it stuck out awkwardly and I had to iron it into shape to match the other side. All of these take at least a star off, as it's a bit of a fixer upper, more so than usual. Apart from that though, it's alright. It has a very nice look, it's ornate and incredibly dapper. The inside pockets are nice to have, even if they're pretty small. I think the normal black one would do just as well. There is no velvet in this whatsoever.
