Love this coat, fits like it was hand tailored for me. The price is exceptional, and the delivery was prompt. Before ordering, any questions I had were answered to my satisfaction. This coat will add to my living history presentations for both the late 1800's and early 1900's. I will be a return customer.

This is a great coat, but I ordered in 42 and reordered in 44 and STILL the arm at least 1" too short.

This is a nice, well made, heavy coat; not a cheap costume piece. Ordered a size 50 to fit my 49 inch chest size for a perfect fit! The sleeves are always too long for me by about an inch and need hemming. I wear these coats all the time and just wish they were available in additional colors like a navy blue or burgundy and maybe in some lighter, summer weather fabrics !

I did find this jacket rather large for the size indicated... I had to have mine tailored, although I ordered the size of my chest measurement (38), it was very roomy. Perhaps best for a broad-shouldered gentleman! After some adjustments, it is a wonderful coat, Victorian, but subtle enough to wear every day with modern clothes too. Very heavy fabric, as others have indicated... suited to cool weather. Many thanks for this unique addition to my wardrobe!

The product is very heavy, but I have no doubt that it is authentic. I don't know how those people lived. I had to send it back because it was too large, and I am just waiting for one to come in in my size.

This jacket has 4-buttons and is a classic - no pockets to bulge to make you look fat but slimer. Nice feel and warm. I did have the shoulders reduced a little - I m loosing weight and muscle tone, but love it.

Nice coat and had that period look and feel. A good fit for the actor I was building a period costume for who was leaving for a film shoot in Austria. The only problem I found was that the p coat buttonholes are too small for buttons. Very difficult to open and close. Since, the actor will be leaving the coat open the problem did not have to be remedied.

I love the coat. I had to take it to the tailor and have the sleeves take up but otherwise it’s perfect.

I bought this as part of my 1880's costume. It looks and feels authentic. The only issue I have with it is its width at the shoulders. Just a little too wide, but perfect otherwise.

Finally got the right size for Husband ( my mistakes totally) We went a size up to have a layering option.

The clothing that I ordered are for a Hickory Golf Outing. I also do reenactments / rendezvous, 1800-1850. Everything that I ordered looks good and fits good.

The pants run a little tight in the waist and thighs, so I order the next size up since they have no stretch. They are not hemmed to allow for all heights.

Fantastic coat great fit.

This is one extremely well made coat and the brushed twill feels heavy enough for some abuse but is super soft from being brushed, I've even had a drunk seamstress rub her face on it (it was super weird). Plenty warm for fall and will be used for laying in winter, may be a bit much for summer. It does have somewhat of a greenish hue under incandescents, but brown under the sun and regular lights. True to size; I'm a size 42 on tape and in my regular suits, so I ordered the same, and it fits perfectly.

Nice chocolate brown color, deep pockets, and good construction right down to the button holes. Soft cotton fabric with enough bulk to stay warm even on chilly autumn mornings.

Is a good thing but i can't wearing them it is two numbers to big. :-( But i have take the size with your instruction. resend is not a option is to expensive from swiss to usa. that's a shame.

I like this coat, I wanted one for a steampunk outfit and this fits the bill nicely. I have one small criticism and that's why I didn't give it five stars. It has no hip pockets. This may be because of historical styling, but I do find it a bit of a drawback what with car keys and the like. Still, it's a great coat and I love wearing it. The sizing is good (I did take note of the issue with US sizing since I'm in the UK) and it fits really well, looks good too.

The size 44 is narrower than my workware jackets of the same size. An incentive to lose weight is a good thing.

Costume lab coat. Good fabric, decent construction. Cut very generously- full in the waist (there is a belt in the back to take in some of the fullness) and the sleeves are straight cut and wide at the cuffs. Standing collar is rather tall and has some body to it so it won't quickly roll or collapse. A very good costume piece , large enough to wear over a sweater or jacket, which has much possibility to be tailored for a better fit

Definitely Measure Yourself Instead of Assuming! I'm a shorter, curvier person who likes a bit of wiggle room in my clothes. I've been wanting this for ages, and when I finally got it I ordered the wrong size not once, but twice! Why? Because I'm used to always getting a 3x/4x , and then the 3x was too big, so I went to med/large, which was just a barely too small to close! And finally, I got the perfect size (XL/2X), which fits PERFECTLY. I can now live my stylish mad scientist dreams, and look absolutely amazing doing so. This labcoat looks nice on the body, making a great silhouette, and makes the user -- or me, in this case -- feel confident. It's amazing quality, too!

You tired of the back and forth with amazon. Poor quality, runing late, and lack of durability. These is the answer. It has a great thickness balanced well with the wieght . I followed the instructions on sizing and it fits perfectly. Buy these guy you will not regret it, don't be fooled buy the others. This one is for keeps.

The quality of the coat is well worth the money payed for it. It's made from good material and you can tell this isn't some crappy costume you would buy at a store. I bought a size small and thought that even then it might be a bit too big for me but it fit great, although a little long (seeing as I'm only 5'4"/female) it's not an issue. If you are looking for something like this I definitely recommend buying it from this seller, you wont be disappointed and will most likely be buying something that will last a long time and make many awesome memories no matter what occasions you dress up to.

This is a fabulous item. This is the second version of this coat I have purchased. This is for a plague doctor. I also own a white version to be a mad (well, slightly peeved) scientist. Both fit wonderfully and are comfortable to wear for an extended time. The only negative is the buttons can be a little difficult to work sometimes due to placement. It is a great purchase that will last many years (my white coat is around 5 years old and in near-perfect shape).

Superb quality fabric and excellently adhered buttons. It is indeed larger than expected and sizing down is a good idea. This is a commercial-quality coat that has so far done a fantastic job of repelling the blood and fluids of political prisoners and coronavirus-infected degenerates.

Do not confuse this with halloween costume crap - it will stand up to close scrutiny - all the buttons are working buttons. It is stage quality. Bought this for an Uncle Fester halloween costume for 2 reasons: it appeared to be well-made and it wasn't a monks robe (which every other dealer tried to pass off as Fester's coat). Alright, this wasn't going to be Fester's coat either, but it looked much closer than anything else I could find. It was perfect! I ordered a XXXL because I wanted to stuff a pillow under it and the fit was still a little loose - at 5' 10" the length was all the way to the floor without tripping over it. Add some makeup and a trick light bulb and, poof - Uncle Fester! Helps to start out with a bald head because skull caps are a pita. I also bought a pair of German made welder goggles with 3 different pairs of lens shades - only ones I could find that actually had metal rims, everything in the steam punk world was plastic. Take off the makeup, add the goggles and some wild hair (or not) and let the mad loose. The coat is made from a good cloth and stitched well so it should last for years, unless you really are a scientist, mad or otherwise, and expect to use it daily. I could see using this for a Mortician as well as the Uncle Fester and Mad Scientist costumes. I just ask myself, "What would Christopher Lloyd do with this coat?"

Really, no joke. It is almost too big which for me is a pleasant surprise, I ordered a size larger out of habit expecting to have to send it back for being too short, or not being able to put my arms through the sleeves, instead a well made and accurate sized garment arrived in record time. I am quite pleased.

This Livingston cutaway sack coat is a very well made coat with an all round tailor-made look & fit's me well the sizing was spot on to my size that i ordered. This is an excellent addition to my Old West wardrobe & highly recommended as a purchase.

The Livingston cutaway sack coat is a VERY NICE coat for the money . It runs true to my standard suit coat sizing and fit me perfectly . The only problem i had was that the top button hole was sewn too small for the button . Easy fix for me so i just handled that problem in house.

The product came in good condition, and it was very sturdy and well made. It was just a TINY bit stiff when we took it out, so trying to get it into a more natural shape to put on our actor was a little tricky indeed. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. I've never ordered a historic-looking piece of clothing before from anywhere, and I my primary concerns were: 1) that it would be too small, and 2) that it would be so cheaply made, that other folks at the event would have judgment. 🤣 However when this dress/coat came, I was so excited to open it. It looked very quality made... the color matched what the website showed, and I was thrilled. HOWEVER, there was still my other concern: would it fit? Was this something from China that had a sizing guideline where everything was super tiny? I had ordered up one size, just in case (and you might want to as well?)... knowing I could probably sew in the sides a bit if too big. However, it was perfect! I put it on and immediately felt era-appropriate! I did not wear anything under it except for a black tank top to cover cleavage, and some black tights (I already owned some semi-believable lace-up shoes)... and the way the buttons only go down about to the knees, let air come in an circulate as I walked. It was just a very comfortable dress in every regard. And at/after the event, I got so many compliments! So thanks for the terrific garment, H.E. – and I will definitely continue to be a customer!!

Its a great coat, the sizing chart works so make sure to get accurate measurements. Perfect if you want to look like "A time traveler that doesn't care about blending in" or for a historical look.

I decided on a mad scientist costume for our Halloween party, but was disappointed with the quality of the costumes I found. I risked spending a little more on this lab coat and was very pleased with the material and construction. This was my first order from Historical Emporium, but unlikely to be my last.

This coat was a little big on me and required some refitting on the edges, even after ordering a small. If you are also a small guy, make sure to consider that. It looked great and was perfect for halloween and will be used for many years!

6'2" and 220 lbs here. The Medium/Large fit really nice except for some short sleeves. Cosplay has gloves so this is actually a plus. The XL/2X fit like a circus tent - definitely for a plus size fella or someone who wants to do their own tailoring. Everything else is as expected. Super thick fabric.

I was looking for a legitimate Mad Scientist outfit for a cosplay photoshoot and You guys did not disappoint. Great outfit for my character. I purchased the lab coat and the black gauntlet gloves. It was well received.

Feels & looks very authentic. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is there was no outside pocket. But they didn't say that it would have one and the picture clearly shows no pocket.

I was worried that the (small size) bad boy wasn't going to fit, seeing as how I am a 5'4" teenage girl. HOWEVER! It went to just about my ankles/wrists, which is SPECTACULAR. The adjustment strap on the back was a huge plus, too. The fabric is thick, heavy, and comfortable and the buttons and collar are sturdy. It even flows in the wind in the right conditions! It's perfect for contemplating the complexities of human consciousness in. It's perfect for lamenting and plotting your revenge against the scientific community that ostracized you for your questionable morals in. Bottom line: it's perfect. As one (1) mad scientist obsessed individual, I can confirm this lab coat is absolutely a new favorite comfort item!!!!!! On a side note, it arrived in 4 days rather than the expected 12, which I could not be happier about! Excellent service, excellent item.... Excellent... Magnificent.... All according to plan....!

I do love the coat. The reason I gave it 4 stars is, first, I wish the black accents across the front were a different color. They seem unnecessary in black. The second, I wish the coat was thicker. For the price I expected a heavier coat. It seems a bit thin for the price point that it is at. Other than those two points it is a great coat.

I bought my normal size of coat, a 52, and this coat fits the size in all areas but one. That being the shoulders. The shoulders hand a good 4" down my arm. I guess I needed the body of Hercules for this to have been a good fit. Unfortunately, this problem cannot even be solved by a tailor. This pattern should be re-thought. If I was not in such desperate need for this coat, I would return it. But due to the circumstances I am stuck with it.

This jacket is nice to look at but the shoulders are huge. The waist fit was perfect but it would never fit anyone's shoulders. It also has some kind of white threading on both arms which is a bit cheap looking. Like the design but not thrilled with the fit or quality for the price.

The Pros: great quality coat for the price! The fabric feels and looks realistic for battle and camp use. Not too fancy but a very nice coat. Liner is realistic, too. I really liked the design and concept of this, and for the price, it can't be beat. The Cons: the fit and the buttons. It is incredibly slim-fitting, except for the shoulders which are very oversized. Basically, you'd better be in battle-shape to wear this: like a 22 year-old Marine with arms like pipes and no body fat. I tried a size above what I wear and it was too small around the waist and gargantuan in the shoulder. It wouldn't be worth it to take it to a tailor: too expensive. The buttons are difficult to work and feel insubstantial. It would be easy to replace them with something you prefer.

What a very nice, well made coat! Upon receiving, this coat is exactly as it shows in the pictures. It hangs perfectly and all seems are tight. The material is very nice, tuxedo quality. Glad we ordered this coat. If all other items Historical Emporium offers are of this high quality, I'll definitely buy here again!!

The Callahan frock coats are the best value frock coats that the Emporium offers; I have one in each colour!

The frock coat is well made, looks good and a fair price for what it is. I am happy with the coat, but wish there were a few changes. The padding in the shoulders feels a bit too stiff and bulky, something with a more natural shoulder shape would be nice. I was also a bit disappointed with the weight of the coat. The site does state the weight clearly, so this was more built up in my head, but a coat with this design, but made of a heavy material (such as wool), would be amazing. All in all, a good coat and I look forward to seeing what other coats Gentleman's Emporium releases in the future.

The coat is nice over all, well made. But I expected(wished) more rich looking fabric. Also because of thin fabric , I can see through the metal part of covered buttons. I think it may be easy to torn. I wish that more measurements are available when purchasing.

Good fabric, nice details on the back vent of the jacket. This gives it a tailored look even though it fits a spectrum of sizes. We were very pleased.
